CFM Food Distributors was founded in 1924 by Peter
Levos and George Mesires, and was originally called
California Fruit Markets. In 1976, second generation
president, Jerry Levos, sold all of California Fruit
Market's retail interests, focused on developing his
company into a food service distribution company,
and changed the company name from California Fruit Markets to CFM Food Distributors.
Over the next 25 years, CFM gained more market share
and broadened its product offerings in an attempt to
become marketable to more segments of the food service
industry. In 2000, third generation owners, Peter
and Paul Levos joined the company. They brought with
them a vision to undertake aggressive expansion rather
than maintain status quo. CFM became a member of Pocahontas USA, a unit of Progressive
Group Alliance in 2004.
In October 2006 construction began for the company's largest expansion. CFM
purchased land in The Industrial Park located only 3 miles from their current facility,
which will centralize all operations into one facility. The new warehouse and corporate
headquarters will be 100,000 sq.ft, and will encompass state-of-the-art equipment,
test kitchens, and corporate offices.
Today CFM stocks all major categories of food service
products including non foods, restaurant supplies and
equipment, and services over 2000 customers.
